HUVEC spreading on pncSi and glass
Following time lapse movies show the spreading of HUVECs on pncSi and glass ( @ 37C, in L15 media supplemented with 10% FBS) over a time period of ~4 hrs.

Last week I conducted a variety of experiments to try to make a nanofluidic transistor (a device described in detail in this previous journal club post). I did some light optimization of the E-beam deposition of Ag films over a 3nm Ti adhesion layer in the PVD lesker machine and found that 12nm of Ag gives…
Hey all! In this post, I’d like to present some of my final data on the exosome isolation project and cover some data that was generated in response to questions asked during our previous discussion. To begin with, Tom asked whether or not it was possible to measure protein in the filtrate and retentate and…
As I told at the meeting, I tried spincoating PDMS on the membrane and it worked without breaking membrane. To make an ultrathin polymer film by spincoating the polymer has to be diluted in the particular solvent first. I used PDMS with elastomer to curing agent ratio (10:1) diluted in hexane (and xylene) by weight…
I obtained gold in 5nm, 20nm, 40nm, and 60nm through Mort/Oberdorster Lab. Separations were performed with fully crystallized samples from SC 073. Here are sizing and absorbance data: In Water I have tried 24 hour separations in diH2O (SC 073) with these particles. Here are the results: No 525nm peak in filtrate for 5nm sample. …
This post is a continuation of the affinity based capture of streptavidin conjugated EVs. The difference is that instead of using the tangential flow system we used the ALine devices. Sam’s previous work discussed the use of ALine devices for size based capture of EVs, but in this case we wanted to try the streptavidin-biotin…
Here is a summary of some of the talks I attended at BMES 2017, mainly from the Nano and Micro- technologies track. This is an ongoing post, I will post more comments, links, and figures. Anna Kalmykov (Tzahi Cohen-Karni) Carnegie Mellon University: 3D Nanosensors for Electrical Interrogations of Engineered Micro-tissues. Overall synthesis of nanostructures to be used…
Looks great.
So we have fibroblasts on glass and HUVEC on pnc-Si. I guess we have a couple more to go?
Make sure you can submit your to the publisher at the same play rate and same duration to make the point that pncSi = glass when it comes to cell spreading.
Yes, I am left with HUVEC on glass and fibroblast on pncSi. I tried fibroblast on pncSi, but it doesn’t look great as the seeding density was high.
I got that point and will make sure the movies are ready for submission.
