Filtration of Bioconjugated Samples Retains Gold, but We Can't Follow the Ligand
On Friday(which was a great day for science). I ran a series of 5 passes of the bioconjugated gold nanoparticles through 30nm cutoff Gen 3 Sepcons. If you’ll remember, the Barcikowski lab wants the free ligand separated out from the complexes. To indirectly get the relative concentrations of gold and ligand, we measured the absorbance…
Alexander Shestopalov’s Group Update1: Silane with PEG4 and PEG8 Samples
ByXunzhiIn this post, I’m going to discuss the results of the different PEG molecular on silane samples. We used same condition to make 4 chips for each sample. And we treat them with BSA, IgG, and PBS to rest the adsorption. We are using the SEM, contact angle and XPS as the testing method. The way we…
ECMO: Results and Conclusions
After several months of modeling, experimenting, thinking and rethinking, it’s finally time to talk about the conclusions we can draw about nanomembrane ECMO. These conclusions take into account only blood oxygenation, and not blood decarboxylation, which is a different therapy that I have not modeled. You can find my description of the model here, and…
Pore processing influence on permeability results
I mostly finished re-processing the images with new method of using pore processor. The images of molar flow/porosity dependence with older and newer processed data are below. Older image: New image: They don’t look much different. Also you can not compare them point by point because the porosity is different for both images after re-processing….
UV-Ozone treated SC267: DDM passes and BSA held back
ByMike HBuilding on my recent posts I ran an experiment with SC267 testing the ability of BSA and DDM to diffuse through UV-Ozone treated (20min at 150C) and untreated samples. I used four samples testing both BSA and DDM in the treated and untreated cases using Jess’ diffusion cell. Again 6uL was placed on the membranes…
Take Two: n-Dodecyl β-D-Maltoside Coating on PDMS
Now that I’ve got plenty of fluorescent protein, I’ve moved back to testing protein adsorption to various surfaces. I’ve repeated the n-Dodecyl β-D-Maltoside (“DDM”) coating procedure (reference) with the goal of preventing or heavily decreasing the protein adsorption to the PDMS surface. This time I had a total of four samples: DDM treated, sham treated, untreated,…

Maryna,
Can you post a version of this figure with controls and the carbon nanotube and track etched data from the papers we’ve reviewed lately. I understand that these will be near zero and not very legible on the scale for our membranes. Thats OK.
Thanks.
