QC on Dual Scale Membrane (lot 1383)_from Bern

We recently received 100 Dual Scale Membrane (lot 1383).

As noted in Dan’s post we also had same issues regarding mix up in the labeling. In the gel box, 2 boxes (25 membranes/box) are labeled 0.625% porosity and 2boxes are labeled 1.25% porosity, thus we supposed to have 50 membranes for both porosity. However 1 box labeled 1.25% porosity contains only 2 membranes at 1.25% porosity and the lest 23 membranes are 0.625% porosity. In the end, we have 73 membranes at 0.625%, and 27 at 1.25%.

Regarding debris, most membranes are fine, however we found many debris on the 5 membranes (Figure 1).

Seven membranes had pore alignment issues (Figure 2).

We also noticed that 3 membranes has Lines between membrane and gel box (Figure 3).

Another issue is that 4 membranes contain Broken piece of membrane below intact membrane (Figure 4).

Lastly, we would like to discuss about labeling or type of gel box. Sometimes label overlap with membrane and we could not check the quality of membrane (Figure 5 left). If membrane is shipped using translucent box, we cannot check membrane through gel box.

Overall, most of membranes are ready to be used with some issues.
