Cell Spreading on pncSi and glass

Spreading of cells (huvec and fibroblasts) on pncSi and glass was observed at ~37 C in L15 media (+ 10% FBS) for ~5 hours.

Its observed that the cell spreading is pretty similar on both the substrates and the time lapse movies can be seen from the following links:

huvec_glass_sprd

huvec_membrane_sprd

fibroblast_glass_sprd

fibroblast_membrane_sprd

Somehow its observed that the time taken to spread is in the order:

huvec/pncSi < fibroblast/glass < huvec/glass < fibroblast/pncSi.

This could be due to the different cells used ( i.e. from different passages).

  1. The movie time is actually the time captured whereas the time to spread is lesser than that. So, it can be possible that the spreading of huvec/fibroblast on pncSi/glass takes about the same time. I’ll have to check on that again.
